Established in 1985

Subocean Marine Surveyors  was established by Capt Alf Østensen in the mid 1980´s. In 2008 Capt Rolf Bergersen came in and took over management and operations, and have over many years now provided a very stable, reliable and quality focused services to our Clients. To take Subocean Marine Surveyors further on as a Maritime Surveying company specializing in Northern Operations - Helge Lockert Hansen came onboard in 2019 as new owner and Senior Surveyor/Subsea Consultant.

Our Goal

As Marine Warranty Surveyors we aim  to act on behalf of the Insurer and the Assured to ensure that specific project marine operations are performed in accordance  with recognized codes & standards and within tolerable and acceptable Insurance interests risk levels, as well as compliant to national and international regulations - as set forth.  In order to achieve this we are required on clients behalf to ensure that:-
  • Satisfactory plans and procedures have been prepared for a given operation.
  • That these plans are supported by suitable engineering calculation in accordance with recognized practice,  codes and standards.
  • That any major equipment proposed for use during the operation is both suitable and certified for its intended purpose and is to be operated by appropriately qualified persons.
  • That suitable consideration has been taken as to the particular risks of an operation and that appropriate mitigation has been made.
  • That preparations and testing is carried out prior to commencement of the operation to an extent and in a manner suitable for the operation in question.
  • That the marine operations once commenced are performed in accordance with the approved procedures.
  • That the work is carried out in compliance with the governing codes rules, regulations or project specifications in force.

Helge has 30 years experience from Marine,  Offshore Oil&Gas Industry within project management, offshore construction management, operation execution, asset management and vessel vetting and inspection processes (pre-hire). He is regarded a leading capacity on NCS statutory compliance management. Specialist competency in offshore deep sea diving (MUO), underwater inspection(GI/CVI/NDT), IWS, Diving Systems, Subsea Equipment, Platforms and Facilities.
